MOVING WITH KIDS A MOTHER'S GUIDE TO MOVING

Let me be frank, I have six kids, I have moved 8 times in the previous 12 years encompassing the East Coast (as well as a 3 year relocation to Hawaii) of the United States. I have moved with babies, toddlers, as well as tweens and teenagers.

Keep Them Included! If you can, take them house hunting, or have them "find homes" on realty sites. Let them seem like they are a huge part of the relocation.

For the Littles-- I always read the lots of varieties of" We are Moving" books offered along with coloring pages here's a printable moving coloring page:

Other ways to keep them included:

A. When you find your house you are going to purchase-- ask your property agent for the layout-- have the kids organize their space-- where will the bed go? the cabinet? carpet? This is actually really fun. You can include a measuring activity into it too-- will particular furnishings fit, and so on

. B. Have them plan a going away party-- It will have them looking forward to something aside from the real sensation of moving

C. Produce a scrapbook-- take an image of all the old rooms and document your finest memory that happened in every one.

D. Provide them a truly special box to load-- just for their most important internet products

Other Suggestions which is not almost as important:

1. Load a transparent bin for the very first night at your new home which contains anything you may require for that first day at the brand-new home. It's kind of like an outdoor camping bag-- it will contain TP, towel, toothbrush, treats, sheets/cover, a few dishes/cups, money, iPad ...

2. Your kids might be overwhelmed, it's natural. And you probably will be too. If you can get somebody to watch them throughout the actual relocation this might be a great idea. Older kids can help unpack boxes-- simply make sure you identify what boxes they should be opening in advance. One time my kids started opening my boxes and they opened one that had their teeth from the "tooth fairy." Think of the surprise of my 8 years of age who found a box of teeth-- that needed lots of describing!!

3. Whenever we moved someplace we always got a large map of the location and put locations that were close-by on it. For example when we moved to Orlando-- we put Disney World, Sea World, Busch Gardens but also other places like "school." "bank," Whole Foods, and so on

4. Work with a great mover. Getting a good mover that comes on time and is arranged with an expert team is essential. You do not desire to be worried out at this time!
